Boekenhoutskloof's Porcupine Ridge Range of South African Wines
The Porcupine Ridge wines are part of our middle range. These wines offer some delicious flavours and exciting blends.
Sauvignon Blanc
The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc shows an elegant combination of citrus and tropical fruit. The low alcohol makes the wine quaffable and a small portion of Semillon contributes to the mid palate weight with a firm acidity adding to a crisp freshness. Drink within two years of the vintage.
Syrah
A warm rich ruby colour is evident and the aroma is dominated by anice, cloves and dark berry flavours. The palate is generous with well-integrated tannins. Drinking well now, this wine also has tremendous ageing potential.
Cabernet Sauvignon
The wine has a deep crimson colour; cassis and ceda flavours dominate the nose and follow through to the palate. This wine is complex with medium to full palate and while enjoyable young further cellaring will be rewarding.
Merlot
The wine shows ripe plum and chocolate/mocha intensity on the nose. The fruity berry flavours are enhanced by the touch of Malbec in the blend. The French oaking supports the structure of the wine adding further spicy flavours. The wine has mid-palate weight with a lengthy finish.
Drink within 4 years of vintage.
